Ilorin Weaving Center

About

Ilorin is one of Nigeria's most important traditional weaving centers, famous for aso-oke cloth production. The Okè-Ogun quarter has sustained a centuries-old tradition of narrow-strip loom weaving influenced by both Yoruba and Nupe textile arts. The city's position at a cultural crossroads between the Yoruba forest zone and the northern savanna created a distinctive hybrid weaving tradition.
