Makerspace Workshop

Ending volunteer fragmentation in Nigeria by 2036. That long term direction starts with what Community Mobilizers experience now.

What must JoinBody build first to reduce volunteer fragmentation?

You already bring people together, so you see what works and where it breaks. That real experience is exactly what we need to shape what JoinBody builds first.
  • Your role

Add short notes to a simple digital board and explain them

  • Bring

One or two real examples from your work

  • You do not need

Slides, payment, or a finished idea

The specific tool will be shared closer to the session.

These are areas JoinBody currently thinks may matter. Your experience may validate, combine, rename, or replace them.

Fragmented discovery

Opportunities and coordination are spread across disconnected channels.

Trust and verification

Mobilizers carry reputation and safety risk when they vouch for a chance.

Economic pressure and cost of time

Volunteering competes with earning, transport, family, and work.

Organizational capacity

Small organizations often lack the tools to manage volunteers well.

Digital access

Devices, data cost, and confidence shape who can take part.

Measurement and system coordination

Participation goes unrecorded and the main systems stay disconnected.

The 90 minute agenda

A working ninety minutes. We move from the 2036 direction to your present day evidence, then to the priorities JoinBody builds first.

Builder recognition

JoinBody Volunteer Marketplace Builder

Your name is recorded as a marketplace builder. Your public profile stays unless you ask us to hide or remove it.

On record

Certificate of Participation

A certificate in your name for taking part in a JoinBody Makerspace Workshop.

When it launches

Lifetime marketplace access

When the JoinBody volunteer marketplace launches, the founding mobilizer cohort uses it free, for life.

Founding co designer

Your ideas shape what we build

What you share in the session helps decide what the first marketplace prototype includes.

Small rooms, clear next steps

Each session stays small enough for real participation. When more mobilizers are ready, JoinBody opens another session.

After the workshop, here is the path ahead, and where you fit in it.

Right after the workshop

Step 1: JoinBody starts building

We turn session patterns into a prototype, targeting December 2026 at a minimum Technology Readiness Level of 7 to 8.

TRL is a maturity scale developed at NASA, used by the US Department of Defense, ESA, the EU and ISO. Learn about TRL External Opens in new tab

Before it opens to everyone

Step 2: You test it first

As a Marketplace Builder you are invited to try the prototype and help shape it before it opens to the public.

Then

Step 3: Public launch and dissemination

We open the prototype to the public and share what we learn along the way.

Alongside

Step 4: Connecting the wider system

We start connecting with the bodies already doing this work, like NRCS, NYSC, NNVS and UNV, so volunteering in Nigeria works better together.
