Igun Street in Benin City is the historic home of the Igun-Eronmwon bronze casters guild, responsible for producing the world-famous Benin Bronzes since the 13th century. The guild operated under royal patronage of the Oba of Benin, using the lost-wax casting technique. The street remains an active bronze casting center and is a UNESCO-recognized heritage site.
