Cross River National Park

About

Cross River National Park, established in 1991, protects one of the oldest and most biodiverse tropical rainforests in Africa, covering approximately 4,000 square kilometers. Divided into the Oban and Okwangwo divisions, the park is home to the critically endangered Cross River gorilla (the world's rarest great ape), drill monkeys, forest elephants, and over 900 butterfly species. The park contains communities of the Ekuri, Boki, and other Cross River peoples who have practiced sustainable forest management for centuries.
