Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary

About

Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary in Cross River State protects a 100 square kilometer area of montane and lowland rainforest that is a critical habitat for the Cross River gorilla. The sanctuary sits at elevations between 300 and 1,300 meters and supports populations of drill monkeys, chimpanzees, and over 300 bird species. The Boki and Olulumo-Ikom communities living around the sanctuary have traditional conservation practices that predate formal protection measures.
