Oyo Dundun Drumming Center

About

Oyo is historically the primary center of dundun (talking drum) tradition in Yorubaland. The dundun is an hourglass-shaped pressure drum that can mimic the tonal patterns of the Yoruba language. Royal dundun ensembles (Ayan lineage) have served the Alaafin of Oyo for centuries, playing at coronations, festivals, and important ceremonies.
