Kano City Walls (Ganuwar Kano)

About

The ancient walls of Kano (Ganuwar Kano) are among the oldest defensive structures in West Africa, dating to the 11th century under Sarkin Kano Gijimasu. Stretching approximately 14 kilometers with 15 gates, the walls defined the old city and its seven quarters. Though partially demolished during colonial and modern development, significant sections remain as heritage landmarks.
