Iseyin Aso-Oke Weaving Center

About

Iseyin in Oyo State is regarded as the historic capital of aso-oke weaving in Yorubaland. The town's economy was historically organized around handwoven prestige cloth, including the famous sanyan (wild silk), alaari (crimson), and ẹtù (dark blue) varieties. Iseyin weavers supplied cloth for royal courts across the Oyo Empire and continue to produce aso-oke for ceremonies today.
