The Gobarau Minaret in Katsina is believed to be one of the oldest minarets in West Africa, dating to the 15th century. Standing approximately 50 feet tall, it was built using the traditional tubali technique and once served as a watchtower and a call-to-prayer tower for the surrounding Islamic scholarly community.
