Mbari Houses at Owerri

About

Mbari houses are elaborate mud structures created by Igbo communities as offerings to the earth goddess Ala and other deities. Built communally over months or years, they are filled with painted clay figures depicting humans, animals, and spiritual beings. Each Mbari house is unique and intentionally left to return to the earth after completion, embodying the cycle of creation and decay.
