Argungu Fishing and Cultural Festival Ground

About

The Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, held along the Matan Fada River in Kebbi State, is one of Nigeria's most spectacular annual festivals. Dating to 1934, it marks the end of the growing season and the historic peace between the Sokoto Caliphate and Kebbi Kingdom. The festival features traditional drumming ensembles, wrestling, canoe racing, and elaborate musical performances that showcase the Hausa-Fulani musical heritage of northwestern Nigeria.
