Glover Memorial Hall

About

Glover Memorial Hall on the Marina in Lagos Island is one of the oldest concert halls in Nigeria, built in 1899 and named after colonial governor Sir John Hawley Glover. It became a crucible of Nigerian theatrical and musical performance, hosting early concerts by highlife pioneers like Bobby Benson and the first public performances of Hubert Ogunde's opera company in the 1940s. The hall remains an active venue for cultural events.
