The Cathedral Church of Christ on Marina, Lagos, is the oldest Anglican cathedral in Nigeria, with its foundation stone laid in 1867 and construction completed in 1946. It served as the mother church of the Diocese of Lagos and played a pivotal role in the spread of Christianity in southwestern Nigeria. The cathedral is closely associated with the Saro (Sierra Leonean returnee) community who established Western Christianity in Lagos.
