About

Ire-Ekiti is traditionally held to be the place where the Yoruba deity Ògún first descended from heaven and the site of his primary shrine. Ògún, the orisha of iron, war, and technology, holds particular significance as the deity who cleared the path for other orishas to descend to earth. The annual Ògún Festival draws worshippers from across Yorubaland and the diaspora.
