Awka Cathedral (Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity)

About

The Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity in Awka is one of the earliest Anglican cathedrals in Igboland, established during the CMS missionary era in the late 19th century. Awka itself is historically known as the home of the Awka smiths, master blacksmiths who traveled across Igboland and beyond. The cathedral represents the meeting of Christianity with Igbo cultural identity and the complex religious landscape of southeastern Nigeria.
