Palm Wine Route (Ogbunike Area)

About

The Ogbunike area in Anambra State is part of the southeastern Nigerian palm wine belt, where the tradition of tapping palm wine (nkwu-elu from raffia palms and ngwo from oil palms) has been practiced for millennia. Palm wine is central to Igbo social and ceremonial life, used in marriage negotiations, title-taking, and community gatherings. The tappers' craft is passed down through family lines.
