Sensitive

About

Keffi in Nasarawa State was a key trading post and emirate town on the trans-central Nigerian trade route linking the Benue River valley with Kano and the northern emirates. Established as an emirate in the early 19th century, Keffi's market facilitated trade in salt, natron, textiles, enslaved persons, and agricultural produce. Cowrie shells and cloth strips served as the primary currencies until the introduction of colonial coinage.
