The Decca West Africa recording studio in Ikeja, Lagos, was the birthplace of modern Nigerian recorded music from the 1960s through the 1980s. Artists including King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, and I.K. Dairo recorded landmark juju, highlife, and Afrobeat albums here. The studio played a decisive role in shaping the commercial music industry in West Africa.
